Storyline
A Business Proposal or The Official Blind Date is originally a webtoon novel of the same title written by Haehwa. Illustrations for the series online are made by artist Narak. The story revolves around the lead characters, Tae-Mu and Ha-ri, and their friends Sung-Hun and Young-Seo.
The Handsome CEO
Kang Tae-mu is the young and handsome CEO of GO Food. Tae-mu graduated from Harvard University and has been working in their branch overseas. He is very focused on his work and dislikes any form of distraction. He considers these a waste of his time. Being the only grandson of the company’s president, Kang Da-goo, he is next in line to inherit the family business.
The Hardworking Daughter
Shin Ha-ri is a regular office worker at the GO Foods headquarters. She is very hardworking, dedicated to her work, and very talented in what she does. With all her student loans and credit card debts, she has been working really hard to pay them off. Her parents own a fried chicken restaurant. She and her brother help their parents out in their free time.
Waiting for Cupid
Jin Young-seo is a marketing team leader at Marine Beauty, a cosmetics company owned by Marine Group. As the only daughter of the Chairman, she is always being set up to go on blind dates for a possible relationship that can lead to marriage. Yeong-seo does not believe in arranged marriages.
Cha Sung-Hun is Tae-mu’s secretary who was an orphan sponsored by Go Food. The two grew up close together. Sung-hun met Young-seo by chance and they both felt an initial attraction toward each other.
The Fated Date
Ha-ri and Young-seo have been best friends since childhood. Young-seo asks help from Ha-ri to pretend to be her on her blind dates. Ha-ri acts like a madwoman on every setup date earning Young-seo a bad reputation in the dating circle.
Tae-mu’s grandfather convinces him to go on a blind date. He then proceeds to find eligible women from wealthy chaebol families who can be potential wives for his grandson. Jin Young-seo happens to be one of these eligible bachelorettes. She once again asks for Ha-ri’s help to pretend to be her on the blind date.
My Personal Reaction
I am loving A Business Proposal so far. This is perfect to watch if you just want to chill and not be tense while waiting for the next episodes to come out. It is a feel-good romantic comedy that you know will definitely have a happy ending.
These are the things that I like so far about this drama:
- Great chemistry between the leads Tae-mu and Ha-ri.
- The second leads Sung-hun and Young-seo look really good together.
- The friendship between Ha-ri and Young-seo is endearing, you would wish to have this kind of friendship in your life.
- I like that everything looks bright and cheery. They even had some bright and colorful graphics that added an almost comical dimension to the drama’s overall effect
- Since the leads work in the F&B industry, the food looks sooo good I immediately craved Korean takeout. In fact, after watching episodes 1 and 2, I went out for a bibimbap bowl.
- I like Tae-mu’s grandfather who is obsessed with watching his daytime dramas in the office.
This drama is truly an enjoyable watch from start to end. Will there be a season 2 perhaps?
