About K Drama Binge
I am finally sitting down and creating this blog about all the dramas I have binge-watched ever since I got hooked in the middle of 2017. I watched a few Asian Dramas back in college many moons ago. Autumn in My Heart, Stairway to Heaven, Jewel in the Palace, and the much-loved series of early 2000 that feature the F4 group from Taiwan, Meteor Garden are just a few of what I remember watching back then. They were shown on my local television network and were dubbed in my language. I enjoyed these shows but promptly forgot about them until recently.
What Started it All
My friend who has been watching Korean Dramas has been asking me to also watch some series that she is watching. She explained to me some plots but I can’t really make any sense of them. I just dismissed her until one day, I was probably bored so I gave in and watched The Inheritors. I could not stop watching the series that I finished in only 4 days.
After that, there is no looking back for me. I just devoured hours of bingeing that my time allowed me to. Aside from just watching, I was reading blogs, watching clips and videos online, and following all these celebrities that starred in the series on their social media. I especially liked the reviews of The Fangirl Verdict. Thankfully, there is a lot of free streaming online. Sites like Viu, Drama Cool, WeTV, and iQiyi. There was no shortage of dramas to watch.
90s Kid Transitioning to K-Drama
There are many things that just made me love watching Asian dramas. Growing up during the Betamax and VHS era prior to cable TV and the wide use of the internet, there were only American series on television. I did enjoy watching some like Friends, Sabrina the Teenage Witch, Sweet Valley Twins, and Lois and Clark. But somehow I never related to any of them on a deep level. The culture was very different from mine so I never felt that there was a connection. When I started watching Asian Dramas, they somehow spoke to me on a level that I understand. The characters play such multi-faceted human beings and their stories beautifully unfold into heartwarming scenarios in a setting that I can relate to. It is like watching people I know with so many stories that are hyper-realistic and yet somehow relatable for me at the same time.
Growing Fascination
Writing this K Drama Binge blog documents my fascination with these stories and characters that have kept me entertained for hours. They have somehow allowed me a peep into the souls of human beings on our side of the world that are far too complicated to understand. Very much like yours and mine. My hope is that I may guide others to navigate this drama land with the same awe and wonder that I have every time I watch one story unfold at a time. Be prepared to lose sleep as you delve into a roller coaster of emotions that will make you laugh, cry, fall in love, and feel warm and fuzzy inside.

So this is my fair warning to you who found my site. Stock up on lots of snacks. Prepare to lose sleep. Buy eye cream for your eye bags. Get used to screaming inside. Relax. Enjoy the ride!
